House of Memories

I got on my blog today to write about all the things and ran into old google photos.  I got sucked into the nostalgia of old times.  Times when the kids were younger. Times when we all lived under the same roof and knowing that I'm speeding this very process up with my new promotion makes me sad.

I been thinking that this emotion is fear, so I ask myself what am I so scared of?  I can do this job; I've been training for it all my life.  I may make mistakes, but I am a hard worker, so I'll learn how to do things better. My husband and I have been through all seasons so we will figure this out too.

I decided that I am just sad that there are things that I am going to miss in the months to come because I'm choosing this path for me, and ultimately for us as a family.  I'm going to miss my friends, our home, my front porch and all of TH Hopebridge.

Of all the things I've counted on in my lifetime, this is the first time that I am betting on myself. Should be an easy move...but I am going to miss the mere essence of our daughter and our Happy B coming and going together under the same roof.

While I am sad for the quicken of time, I cannot wait to see our photo logs for the coming year, and I am excited for new adventures.

Stitches

If only I could stitch together the hearts that I know are unraveling tonight.

I can't, so I will continue to stitch towards the dream of what we lost today.

Someday is coming!

It's Just not my Turn Yet

I am feeling defeated these past weeks.  I am thankful that I am mature enough to know that when a door is closed that God has other plans. When I look back over my life the things that made no sense to me when I was walking through them become the "aha moments" of my story.  Not only do these pivotal moments in my life make sense looking backwards, but God also rewrote some of my BEST prayer requests and made them even better than I could ever have imagined! This is why I think his timing feels to take forever, because he is working all things together for the good.  Perfection takes time.

Some seasons of heartbreak seem endless.  The crazy thing is when you walk though something truly hard it changes you for the good if you let it.  You find one day that the place you long for no longer fit the better version of the person you have become because of your struggles.

That moment when the better version of who you grow into is more valuable than the thing that you have been praying your guts out for, well that my friends is a remarkable journey that I hope everyone gets a chance to experience in their lifetime.

When your kid grows up

Of all the challenges that you will face as a mother, the hardest one is to let them go.  It is not picking up after them, meetings with teachers, or watching them drive out of the driveway for the first time alone.

It happens slowly you don't even always feel it happening.  Your too excited watching them take their first steps or celebrating the first word that you have waited for them to speak.  You teach them all the things to become independent.  To get dressed, to go to the bathroom, to pour their own bowl of cereal.

As they get older the challenges get more real.  The person they are becoming mirrors what you have modeled yourself.

That saying "blood, sweat and tears", it had to come from a mom who had witnessed her little human fly away all the way to the West.

My little boy who took forever to grow hair, has grown a mustache.  My little boy who loved trains now drives an ambulance and saves lives.  My little boy who had the worst time managing his own bedroom now pays rent on an apartment.  My little boy who ate only chicken nuggets and mac and cheese (and to be fair was about all I could cook) appreciates good food and good drinks.

I'm no stranger to how good-bye's feel.  But I have to admit that leaving Wyoming pulled a little harder.  As the landscaped changed over the miles to my boy's childhood home I felt the enormity of what being a mom really feels like.

The sad, the proud and the honor of it all.
