Hair Adventures

I take my hair very seriously, always have. But over the years I have come to believe that hair should be fun. I've done it all...and even my least favorite cuts I don't regret because at least I was brave enough to try them. The only thing I do regret is trusting incapable people to cut my hair to save a few bucks...but I learned my lesson and take my locks to someone trustworthy (Amy at Hair Express in Terre Haute!)

Here are my new locks! They are a bit of a challenge and not sure that as of right now I am up to the task of mastering them everyday. Yesterday I went and purchased the eight piece hair extension kit and took it to Amy who colored them the same as my hair and helped me put them in. Of course she made them look beautiful!

Today I put them back in myself...and it took me like 40 minutes, maybe even an hour. Three tries...but the third time is always the charm. They seriously take some getting use too. Suddenly you are walking around with a couple more pounds of weight on your head, and your hair is brushing the backs of your shoulders where it couldn't reach before. I was out shopping and I found myself constantly looking in mirrors to make sure they were not falling out. And they weren't. After trying on a clothes I finally just went to the car and dismantled my hair.

Macey was easily talked into the newest fad...some feathers. She picked the purple ones, which I think made and excellent choice.

The price of beauty! I keep telling this to Macey...who knows. She wants long hair, but is such a tender head. She wants her ears pierced, but is scared because it will hurt just a little. But no more then the clip in earrings she keeps trying to wear for now.

But if you ask me...it is all worth it.

Shoe Girls

Macey got $65 dollars for her birthday. She wanted to go to the toy store so I took her. We spent a good hour there, especially in the barbie section. Still there was nothing that caught Macey's eye. Finally she looked at me and said will you drive me over to the mall and so I can look for a pair of shoes? And that is exactly what we did. Shopped for shoes.

The girl spent $7 dollars and I spent $18 and we both went home happy with a new pair of shoes.

Sunset on Sunset Avenue

I love that the sun does not set until after nine pm. Which is probably why I am
exhausted most of the summer...still I love it! Isn't it just beautiful!?

Sometimes it nice to just walk down the stree you live on and take it all in!

My house my be small, but that makes it easier to clean. And I love our street, our neighbors, and our great big yard!

Just look at that glow from the inside. It matches the sunset and just say's "welcome, come on in!"

Things I remember about the birth of Macey…

It was hot out.

I was plagued with false labor.

I told my doctor I was tired of being pregnant and he said “How does Friday sound for a birthday?”

Ambien (sleeping pill) makes me nuts.

Be it a nervous habit, or wanting to just look good meeting his little girl, Paul primped in our hospital room mirror countless times.

The nurse couldn’t get my IV in, and Paul had to leave the room.

I was scared of the Poticin.

Paul and I took turns playing our hand held Yahtzee game, until I couldn’t hold it from shaking so bad, and he kept kicking my butt anyway.

Epidurals are wonderful (side note: Paul left the room)!

The doctor went to lunch.

My water broke.

She was coming…NOW!

My feelings when they were telling me not to push because they were not ready. Ready or not she was coming.

INTENSITY!

Endearingly I remember my husband’s head right up by my own, and then noticed how he was breathing right along with me. Big deep breaths while I pushed. He was so into us.

Dr. Yeagley to the rescue. Unfortunately my doctor never made it back from lunch so it was Dr. Yeagley that made it just in time. Which was ironic to us because the handful of times that I had false labor it was Dr. Yeagley that we saw at the hospital. He had a knack for cheering me up on the handful of times we had come in thinking “this is it” only to be sent back home.

I remember the nurse telling me to look down and see my baby, and when I did my gaze was meet with the deepest, biggest eyes in the world staring right back at me.

LIFE!

Paul stayed close to me, until I told him to go and meet our little girl.

Her reaction to her daddy…she threw up.

She had taken a big swallow of amniotic fluid and was sick with a belly ache the rest of the day.

Gavin was so excited to meet his new sister! He along with my mom were our first visitors.

Paul was still squeamish from some of the things he had witnessed.

I felt great! Better than I had ever expected after everything with Gavin. I could get up and move around, and took a shower.

Macey was a natural at nursing.

Papsy was beaming when he got to hold his new granddaughter for the first time.

My husband was great and went out to Bob Evans to get me the turkey dinner I was craving, along with a piece of coconut cream pie and a large sweet tea!

Best part about it, was at the end of the day everyone went home and I got to have baby Macey all to myself! I got to hold her, talk to her, tell her how glad I was to finally meet her. I got to rub her dark hair and take in the smell of her. I got to check out her fingers and toes all over again for good measure. I got to enjoy her. And I wondered to myself if she was ever going to grow into the biggest eyes I had ever seen on another person. My life had come full circle. And the family that I had always dreamed of was finally complete.

Happy Birthday Macey!

A Birthday of the Best Kind

A spiritual birthday...

A couple of weeks ago Gavin made a very important decision, one I hope that can be a cornerstone in all his days to follow.

Thank you Grandpa Mike for doing the honors and for all the friends, old and new who came to such an important event.

Thanks Gwen, and Dot for the photos!!!

My Budding Photographer

I got so tickled at Macey when we were on vacation! She took her little Nikon and shot away. Here she is in the doorway of a store in the Wisconsin Dells. She saw her daddy and Taylor sitting here and knew it would make a great pic...and it did!

Here is my view..

Here is Macey's view...

Here are some other pics that Macey took while we were on vacation...
