Cornerstone's Grads

Here are a few pics from Thursday's nights graduation for the Kindergarten and 5th grade classes at Cornerstone Christian Academy. I have dreaded this night since last year when I watched Macey accept her preschool certificate. It dawned on me that this year we would watch three of our children reach big milestones. Macey to first grade, Gavin to middle school, and Taylor to college.

This was the first year that Gavin was not in Cornerstone...and he was sad to watch his friends go through the ceremony without him. Maybe he was just sad that his school still has a week and a half to go before they are out for the summer. Either way Gavin made it too!

All of our kids have done a great job and we are so proud of their accomplishments!

A Day Trip

The Sun was shining in Kentucky...so we went!

We stopped first for breakfast at Lynn's Paradise Cafe in Louisville KY.

Click here to see her website...

The entire place reminded me of Broad Ripple in Indianapolis. Paul had a hot brown, and I had biscuits and gravy with my Bloody Mary.

A horse toaster...for real!

Then we went to this cool antique store that was more like a museum than a store. It was called Joe Ley's Antiques. Next stop...
Churchill Downs

Jockey Calvin Borel

I bet on this horse, but didn't win!

Jockey Jon Court

After that we stopped in Edinburgh on the way home...where I drugged myself up on nausea medication from riding in Paul's cheese stick all afternoon. Of couse it could have been all the food I ate at Zaxby's in Jeffersonville Indiana. Food was yum.

Thanks mom for keeping my kids! We're having a great time without them...even if we miss them and talk about how much they would have loved everything the entire time.

Macey's Somewhat Private Moments...

Sometimes I catch my kids being themselves when they think no one is watching. Here is Macey brushing her teeth last night. She finally caught me taking pictures, still it was funny, and I wonder what is she thinking?

There I am!

This is taking a really long time.....wonder if I have srubbed them enough?

I think I like my hair this way!

Where's the Floss?

Singing...and dancing "oh yeah," she sings.

Oh, yeah...I know I am pretty!

One of them days...

So I get my daughter up, we have a nice conversation, we pick out what she is going to wear today, and she goes to pee. I hear her crying. I ask "What's wrong?" and she said "My tummy hurts." I don't know what I said next, but I remember hearing her throwing up. I said "Throw up in the toilet or the trash can!" One is to her left, the other to her right...but she continued to throw up on herself and the bathroom rug. Yum! How nice.

Still that was only half of it. I have a big event at work in two days..my project. Paul's laptop died..really. We ran the virus software and it told us that we needed a new hard drive. And I cleaned...really cleaned. My house is spotless. Then I cleaned out the old leftovers from the fridge and found myself gagging and holding my nose while I scrapped them into the garbage disposal. I was gagging...and I didn't even do that when I was holding Macey's hair this morning.

All I can say is that tomorrow is another day....who knows what it will bring. But if the world stays as it is, and Mother Nature is kind...then it can't be much worse then today. Today was just about dealing with the leftovers!

1st Hot Day

Today's high reached 91 here in sunny Terre Haute. We had to put the air on last night. The bugs are out in full force...you can't stand outside for too long without getting eaten to bits.
Gotta love Indiana weather. The seasons here are all or nothing. No gradual changes or easing into seasons, one minute it is spring and a pleasant 73 the next day it is summer and a killing 91 degrees outside. Same goes for the summer into fall and the fall into winter.

All Kinds of Fun

So Friday was my birthday and I didn't get a chance to post what I had planed as we were getting ready for our Derby party which was tons of fun. Which rolled into Mother's Day when Paul and I both woke up with a nasty stomach bug. I was too sick to post what I had planed for Mother's Day. I spent yesterday in bed taking it easy, which was a good thing because Macey woke me up at 3 am with a tummy ache and shared the fun with her brother who also woke up to the nasty bug.

I took these pics last night as Macey played with left over party confetti on her trampoline. Living in the moment...that is my goal for the last of my thirties. There is a crazy hectic pace to my life that I totally thrive on. Even these last few days. Even the yucky jobs of being the hair holder while my daughter is sick...I would wish to be no where else (only wish that we were all better!) It is nice to be her safe harbor. It is nice to be needed and wanted.

So thank you Paul for the awesome Birthday gift (Train tickets to see not only the show but meet Pat and Jimmy before the show!)

Derby Party was a blast, next years will be better.

And Happy Mother's Day to my Mom, Nana and Mamoo! Love you all six million!

Tonight we had our 2nd Annual Kentucky Derby party...last year...the first one happended on accident. No one really won on the ponies, but we ate great and we had fun!

We enjoyed time with family and friends.

Wore crazy hats.

We drank a few mint juleps.
