If my life were a sound track

If you knew me well you would know this were coming. The thing is I really struggled with the song "Rainbow Connection" that I got to sing my first solo in at VBS as a little girl, and then IZ's modern take on "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". Then I watched this for the like the hundredth time...and I couldn't help but sing along. I know exactly how she is going to move, where she is going to put her hands, and the tones she is going to hit. I loved Judy when I was 5 years old. I pretended to be Dorothy when I was a little girl, and I always have believed there was something more to this world...even if it is over the rainbow.

If my life had a sound track...

it would have to include this song! My husband and I have looked up songs for hours tonight...talking about the first songs we remember, there are so many!  This is one of mine.

Just like my kids will always think of me when they hear a Train song, this one makes me think of my mom...she had to have liked it because it is so engraved in my head. And the last line...it rings true to me in my old age and experience.

and the snow turned into rain.... as Paul and I would say, it is such a hopeful song!

Track 1

If my life had a sound track this would be the first song on it. As I watch this I cannot believe that I was ever name after this song...REALLY! And yes, my middle name is Ann.

Which leads to the next question why is your name spelled the way it is...Kary?  I don't know what was wrong with the Hollie's spelling. What I am told is that Cary Grant spelled his name with a C, so my parents thought a girl would spell her name with a K.

When I was younger I really hated my name because of the way it is spelled. I could never purchase anything like license plates for my bike because of this...but as I have gotten older, I LOVE it! There is no one else in the world like me...so why should my name be spelled the same as most of the others...be it Cary, Keri, Carrie, Kerry,  or the likes.  Maybe my parents were on to something.

I am Mad!!!!

at my brother!
Her face cracks me up! They were fighting on the trampoline last night. Can you tell she is upset? You can even see the veins in her face if you look close enough. They have a love hate relationship. One minute they are BFF's the next they hate each other's guts! Did you ever fight with your siblings? What was the worst fight you ever had? Oddly enough I cannot remember a single fight with my sister's now...but I am sure they can recall a few. I know we had fights!

Julia's 100th Birthday

I use to wonder what was up with Julia's voice when I was a kid. As I grew older and never found my way around the kitchen she has turned into an icon to me. I love her! Happy 100th Julia from your's truly...Kary Crocker.

Our Mermaid, Trainette or Drop of Jupiter

Today was the first day of 2nd grade. I asked Macey last week, what are you going to wear your first day back to school? Her answer was this!
She has been so excited to tell her friends about going to the Train concert in Indy and singing on stage with them. Ever since she has been wearing the tee-shirt they gave her, watching my ipod video, and singing Train songs. She has even taken my Train California 37 CD and has claimed it as her own.
I have to confess, it might have been the best day of my summer too! What this has done for her self esteem and appreciation of music is priceless! Someone had posted this on youtube...do you see our Mermaid?

Sweet Moments

At least twice a month I make the 214 mile round trip journey from Terry Haute to the North side of Indy to retrieve my boy either from his dad’s or my parents. Admittedly, I hate the drive. It is hardly something that I look forward too.

However, when I look back, there are so many memories crammed into these Sunday drives. Freakish weather, road construction, car troubles, emergency bathroom breaks, heavy traffic, non-stop singing in the back seat from our daughter, fighting kids, serious discussions, to hysterical giggles (click here).

A couple of weeks ago I got to go by myself to get Gavin. My parents were on vacation so it was just the trip there and back. Gavin, being the twelve year old that he is, usually keeps to himself. He will climb into the car, plug his earphones in and stare out the window. However this day he was unusually talkative, filling me in on all sorts of 12 year old things of interest.
Riding shot gun he sports his new sunglasses and turns up the tunes. The weather was cooler, nice enough to roll the windows down and open the sunroof, so we did. The sun was starting to set casting golden tones across the landscape. I can see Gavin bopping to the beat of the music, hand keeping time outside the passengers’ window. Together we sang loudly. And for the first time in awhile I wish the ride was longer. I found myself slowing down just a little to make it last. It was nice to just be with my boy, riding off into the sunset.

River Boat

Last night we set sail on the Cincinnati River Boat! Here are a few pics from our cruise. This was Macey's birthday gift from Aunt Regina and Uncle Scott. Thanks for letting us tag along. Macey even got to sit in the captain's chair and turn the boat!
