The Tapestry

My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
and I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.

He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him.

#15 Blessing XOXO Before You Go

I've been reading "The Hands Free Mama" by Rachel Macy Stafford. It is a must read for all busy parents that want to connect and engage with their kids.

Xo before you go, was a chapter in how we say goodbye to the ones we love.

I love the fact that my boy going into his sophomore year  of high school still says "I love you mom!" Yes sometimes it is sarcastic,  sometimes it is to bait me for money or a ride somewhere. But when he calls me at work to tell me he's home, or I drop him off at a friends he says "I love you," even in front of his friends.

I love that even after 12 years together my husband will come and give me a quick kiss before he leaves to go anywhere...even to the gas station for a lotto ticket or a beverage. Yes sometimes perfunctory...but Always. No matter what.

I love that Macey has learned from her Daddy and our supply of goodbye and goodnight kisses is still an everyday occurrence.

Even better is that all of them usually greet me at the end of the day. Gavin will emerge from his cave and Macey will sometimes be waiting on the front step for me.

Hugs in between. ..but I think we've got the goodbyes right. Because you just never know so Xo before you go.

#14 Blessing Love

Tonight I witnessed love in it's truest form...it was in the form of phone calls to check a patient's well being. It was in the hand holding, beer smuggling,  assistance in the most basic needs. Chap stick applying, eye glass cleaning, hugs and prayers.  It was chicken keeping and relaying messages that all is good. It was family.

And when I saw my father in law take the hand of his bride just shy some 50 years from I do....melt my heart and all the ties that bind us together as family. Love works its invisibe magic entertwining us all as one. I am a part of that story, their story...family = love.

#13 Blessing the Breeze

The humidity was suffocating today..but the breeze was delightful. Like water to quench your thirst...refreshing.

And it sang....the limbs and leaves of the trees its instrument, all rustling. If God truly does reveal himself in nature I see him in the breeze. Unseen, but always there. Sometimes sill and quiet.  Sometimes carrying his creation.  Sometimes fierce and powerful.

Floating flags, soaring birds, tasseling the hair on our own heads, pushing the waters of the earth in ripples and waves.

How can you believe in something you cannot see others will ask? A baby hears it's mothers voice before it is born. The love that I feel for my people you cannot see that either. Just like the wind you cannot see it in colors or form but it does exist. Powerful, constant and strong.

Blessing #12 Inside Jokes!

Inside jokes are the very best kinds!  Even if no one else gets them when you try to explain them later.  In my opinion they are on equal significance with photographs, because they are shared with the special people in your life!

Obama cabbage, cows on a hill, kamikaze birds, "I just passed Fred!", Jesus Saves bank, a slab of ribs, grits and kumquats, Teletubbies that fart, 9'o clock curse word, Mooish, an evening of "F" words...click here, and the garden gnomes dedicated to my favorite Brazilbilly!

#9 Blessing Baseball

Daddy took Macey to her first ever baseball game this week in Indy.  She is now the biggest fan.  I am sure part of her love for the sport was feed by her daddy's passion for the game.  Something he has always had a love for he can now share with our Myrt.  There have been several baseball lesson in the front yard since Wednesday's outing.

#6 Blessing a Bike Ride

Summer goal to bike to Bridgeton.  Tonight we biked 6 miles...wasn't too hard.  Been biking for a few weeks, new tennis shoes, helmet for Myrt, new bike for me...one in the works for my side kick.  Loving my "Strava" app...that tracks how far and how fast.  Some good tunes.

Love feeling the burn.  Turn that pain into power.  Want to push myself to the limits.  Could go further without my shadow...but she will remember this.  Out in the middle of the country...Macey says, "It's so quiet and peaceful out here!"  Yes!
