Hubby

He can be so fun...

My mom use to tell me, make sure you find someone that will treat his mom good...I did!

And while we all have our list of wants while we are in search of Prince Charming...it is a bonus when they exceed your best expectations.

While I had my own personal list of wants, and MUSTs that he passed.  I knew I had exceeded them when we brought our Macey home from the hospital.  Of couse she woke like all newborns do, clueless to the rules of when most humans sleep.  She was crying in her crib by our bed.  I tried to get her and leave quickly to keep him from waking, as he still had to go to work in the morning.  "Where are you going?" he asked me.  "Stay here, it is fine!"  He then went to get the biggest pillow we had to lay between us.  "Put her here."    After I nursed her, I placed her between us in our big bed on that pillow between us.  He patted her back and she went back to sleep between us.  And I feel in love with him all over again.

This man loves his kids.  Although his older children might have questioned this...push comes to shove he's got their backs!  I love that about this man. And I know he's got mine too!

A Dedication to my Hubby! Maroon 5 - Sunday Morning

Of all the songs that we have song, shared, talked about, felt, listend to, and wanted to name Macey after ..this is the one that ALWAYS brings me back to you ...and the Corner Cafe!  I love us, our history, and how true to us this song is.  Sunday mornings always sucked!  I am glad we no longer have to say good-bye ever Sunday morning.

Driving slow on Sunday morning...I never want to leave (but I could hear you on the radio if I were leaving you!)

Vote for Abe

Last weekend when we went back to Derby we stopped again at Lincoln's childhood home and turned in Macey's assignments to become a Lincoln Jr. Ranger.  She got a special badge for doing the work.  While we were there Macey thought that being President Lincoln would be fun for Halloween.  We got the hat and the beard...but I think she is having 2nd thoughts...only because she would be dressed like a boy.

Here she is with her badge, signed certificate and hat and beard.

I've been going in to kiss her goodnight this week to find her in the hate and beard.  She is such a funny girl.  But tomorrow we are going to the zoo for Halloween...she is not so sure and thinking her Belle dress would be better.  This year she had talked about going as a banana or Dorothy from Oz...but I still vote for Abe, wouldn't you?

Goodbye

I never that there was more to this...did you? Macey and I have been trying to learn it...

See you later, alligator!
After while, crocodile!
In an hour, sunflower!
Maybe two, kangaroo!
Gotta go, buffalo!
Adios hippos!
Chow, chow brown cow!
See you soon baboon!
Adieu, cockatoo!
Better swish, jellyfish!
Chop, chop, lollipop!
Gotta run, skeleton!
Bye-bye, butterfly!
Better shake, rattle snake!
Our school day now ends.
So, good-bye good friends!

The other one that we have recited to each other for awhile.
Nite nite, don't let the bed bugs bite.
And if you do, take off your shoe and beat them till they're black and blue!

Some things about childhood are so much fun.
 I so needed it today!

Oh my Goodness

I'm looking for the Gavin pictures, maybe I can find them and post tomorrow. However here is enough heart ache for the night...where does the time go?

What is your Happy Place?

This is mine... My husband thinks he knows his way around a camera...grabbed mine when he saw me soaking up the sun on my favorite rock. While my camera settings were impossible for the average Jo...I love the fact that he saw me in my element and took a picture. This is my happy place.
I am so content to sit here...to watch the barges...to read my books, drink my wine and just be with no one and everyone. It is this spot that I am at peace with all that is.

Pumpkins

My sister in law Regina always buys the kids pumpkins to carve when we go to the river.  Here we are with this years batch.  Macey tried to act as if it didn't gross her out.  Gavin says this is the 1st pumpkin he has ever carved (all on his own, maybe).  Regina did come and save the day because what Macey wanted was too hard and I walked away....Regina finished it.  This is one more reason why I love my sister-in-law so much!  Thanks Regina!  Oh, and Papsy got the big tools out!

When you are missing your two front teeth...

It is extremely difficult to eat a carmel covered apple...
We got these at Apple Hill Orchard, just outside Vincennes Indiana on 41. We have passed this orchard year after year and on a whim stopped in on our way to Derby last weekend in search of my favorite apple.  They didn't have anymore of my apples, but still it was heaven! They had apple cider slushies, apple donuts, apple turnovers, of course they had apples too. What I really wanted, but you have to special order was the mile high apple pies the girls were making and baking when we were there.

Macey's First Hero

These last few month Macey has found her first hero...President Abraham Lincoln.  She checks out books about him at the library and reads to me about him all the time.  We told her when we went to Derby, Indiana that we would be close to his boyhood home and asked her if she wanted to go...of course the answer was Yes!

We had taken Gavin when he was about her age.  It is a very pretty place.  Here are some pictures from our adventure.

Here is where Abe's mother Nancy was laid to rest.
Here is the space where greatness once lived... not much bigger than Macey's own bedroom.
They have a homestead set up to show you what Abe's family farm would have been like. There is a checker board in which Mamoo and Papsy have taken all the grandchildren and played a game of checkers...this was Macey's famous Payne moment with Papsy. I am not sure who won.
Gavin...
Macey...
Just pretty...
Macey opted to become a Lincoln Jr. Ranger so we worked on a few project together so she could get her badge.
While we were there a train went by...and for the ones that know Gavin know that he use to LOVE trains. It use to be all about Thomas and Percy, now it is all about girls, music, friends...
I asked Gavin to take our picture. He went on for about five minutes about removing our sunglasses, moving our hands and getting things out of our pockets. I guess I have created a monster.

Blue Heron Wineyards & Winery

For a couple of years I have been on the look out for this winery in Cannelton Indiana (which by the way, Cannelton is about the most red-neck place I have set my eyes on). Either way the people are good folk and will share with you the little they have. So finally we found this beauty up a dirt road along side of a mountain. Blue Heron Winery. The view alone is worth the trip. It is beautiful view of the locks and dam. My photos didn't do the view justice, you just have to trust me when I tell you that the view is breath taking. Just look at Macey...
While we sampled the wine on this beautiful vista, Gavin played on his ipod and later told me how much he liked the view.
This guy Gary that owned the place was just one of us. I asked him if all his wines were sweet, and the said "Nope, can't do that." I said great, because I like dry wines. Then since no one was there, and I admitted that I like dry wines...he said "hey, why don't you come out here...it is not pretty or anything, but I will let you sample my wine." And there in the vats of beautiful grapes he pulled them back and let us sample the wine in the making. It was WONDERFUL! We bought two bottles, and that was two days ago...wine is gone. I am going back next week when we day trip it there again. Then we took a hike up to this Celtic cross that someone had carved out of stone.
Cheers!
